The First Immersive Video

If you think about it, we all live at the center of a spherical field of view.  Finding a solution to how to capture this surrounding image began with my work in special effects in Hollywood in the mid 1980's, after I got my Master's in Experimental Animation from CalArts.  My first patents for a dodecahedral imaging system in 1989 led to the founding in 1994 of the Immersive Media Company, (then known as Dodeca LLC).  With the collaboration of Warp California, we debuted the world's first photographic VR immersive movie, an immersive trick basketball game called The Sphere, at SIGGRAPH '95 in the i-Glasses HMD booth.
